Music is the most important element of Capoeira.
They are singing during their performance.
Let's learn this Afro-Brazilian art from their music!
I can see you're flying! What is this song and art of fighting!

My friend Josephine is a Capoeira student, so I had a opportunity to watch and take photos of their

The China National Day Dinner
I was glad that I celebrated a China National Day Dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong.
The 1st of October was also my friend's birthday, so we decided to celebrate his birthday at the Four Seasons.
Everything was so perfect! We celebrated at the Caprice, a Michelin star restaurant.
Finally we went to poolside to watch the China National Day fireworks display!

Glassware in the Crown
In the Crown hotel room, I found some beautiful wine and drinking glasses.
I like taking shots of glasses because you are able to see the fantastic transparency of the glass.
Usually the hotel room has nice glasses and cups. I hope you all like this series of pictures!

I celebrated my birthday at the Lung Hin Chinese restaurant because, they have a Michelin star chef.
The Maitre de recommended the fried lobster salad roll for the appetizer. It was absolutely delicious!
They also had a nice roast pigeon and Shanghainese dumpling that were both, of a very high standard.
I also recommend the coffee at the Crown. It was good!

The Crown hotel is one of the best hotels in Macau.
It is located on the COTAI strip in the City of Dreams complex next to the Venetian Macau.
The Crown, Grand Hyatt and Hard Rock Hotels make up the City of Dreams complex.
I stayed 2 nights at the Crown to celebrate my birthday. The view from the room was awesome!
I also had dinner in the Crown, one night in one restaurant and the other night in another restaurant,
which was managed by a Michelin star chef from the Altira Macau (formerly the Crown).
I want to share my happiness with you all!

I went to Phuket after visiting the Shanghai Expo for my remaining holidays.
After the busy trip of Shanghai I was getting tired. I decided to relax more in this trip.

Manila Tragedy
The Philippines is a corrupt country and the police extort money from whoever they can...
It happened to me when I went to Manila in 2009. A traffice cop stopped my taxi,
took the driver's license and demanded money from the taxi driver who in turn asked me.
I couldn't believe it and I just got out of the taxi and waved down another driver.
The policeman realised that I wasn't going to give any money and he gave the taxi driver's license back.
On the 23th of the August, 8 people died in the bus hijacking, kids lost their parents…
The police smashed the windows of the bus just to cover the letters that
the kidnapper wrote instead of trying to save the hostages first.
Phuket Cultural Centre
Phuket Cultural Centre provides an exciting comprehensive sample of the life
and culture of all parts of Thailand with their special attractions and unique life-style.
In the theatre you will find the old Thai culture, Thai material arts,
Thai classical dances and Phuket island's native culture.
Their cultural performers will present examples of the culture of all parts of the kingdom -
but with the emphasis on the unique aspects of Phuket and the south.
You will thrill to the long pole fighting and the Thai boxing; you will be charmed by Thai
classical dances from 4 regions of Thailand and you can join the dancers in the "Ramwong folk dance".
The "Bai Sri Soo Kwan" is a unique welcome ceremony. The victory Sa Bat Chai Drum and parade,
amazing southern show and the colourful island dance will leave you with warm meomories of their culture.
Shanghai Expo Highlights (Part II)
To view the Expo at night is the most spectacular time to be there. When all the pavilions turn on their lights!
It’s an amazing scene! You see and get a feel for the unique designs of each pavilion
and of the different countries. It’s like being in a City of the future!
I went to Expo Boulevard to take some night shots.
The China pavilion is the most attractive one. The Macau pavilion is like the moon orbiting around the earth.
It makes the China pavilion more brilliant!
Of all the pavilions I went to, I recommend the Theme pavilion!
It includes the Urbanian pavilion, the pavilion of the City Being and the pavilion of the Urban Planet.
You can see some awesome light effects and a 360-degree movie that you view on the ceiling.

Shanghai Expo Highlights (Part I)
The Shanghai Expo is like a big amusement park!
There are so many things to see. You need to spend a lot of time there to see everything.
You also need to queue up! I decided to go to those pavilions that didn’t have long queues.
I guess I made the right decision. I managed to get into the pavilions and I saw many cool things!

Shanghai Nights
The Shanghai nights were really impressive. The old western-style buildings in
the Bund and along Nanjing Road were architecturally very special for me!
When the lights were turned on, the buildings were gorgeous and spectacular and
they made Shanghai even more charming and attractive.
When you walked around the Bund you could compare the old buildings
with the new constructions. They were really colorful and impressive!

Shanghai Day and Night
This is the second time that I visited Shanghai, besides to visit the Shanghai Expo,
I also can see once again a beautiful night view of Shanghai,
I believe this is the most beautiful city night scenery!
This time I also witnessed the rapid development of Shanghai,
there are many skyscrapers were not seen before.
During the day in Shanghai, you recognize how prosperous is the city.
The early night was even more gorgeous when the lights turn on,
Shanghai night scenery is absolutely unforgettable!
Since this trip was Shanghai's summer, was particular cool to go out at night,
I specially took more night shots, I hope all of you will like the pictures.

I want to share the great experience I had with you at the Shanghai Expo. There were so many people...
This is the video I made! I will share more pictures after my holidays!
Night Street
There is always a characteristic of the modern city. It is to remain illuminated at night.
City people are busy every day, night is day after another began.
Although have many cars and people in the night streets, but there is still a tranquil feeling.

Lotus Flowers of Macau - Senado Square
Senado Square of Avenue Almeida Ribeiro is the landmark of Macau, so often have huge crowds here,
furthermore here have many activities setting and holiday decorations. In fact, I think the simplest is the most
beautiful, here in the summer will have some lotus decorations, in the summer here is even more beautiful!
Because I work nearby Avenue Almeida Ribeiro, I saw many people were shooting the lotus here around
June and July. I had to go work earlier, to get the opportunity for taking pictures in Senado Square,
in the sunny morning, the sky was very beautiful, and the lotus bloom especially pretty in the morning,
with few pedestrians, you can enjoy the fun of shooting . Here are the lotus pictures I took in the passed
two years, I want to share with you all, I hope everybody like it!

Lung Kwu Tan
Macau has a famous beach called Hac Sa Beach. The sand there is black.
I found out that Hong Kong has a black sand beach too,
called Lung Kwu Tan and it’s located near Tuen Mun!
The sand in Lung Kwu Tan is black, and it reminds me of Macau’s Hac Sa Beach.
Most people would probably go to Butterfly Bay Beach,
so there weren’t many people at Lung Kwu Tan.
It feels very relaxing there. You can also climb to the
Lung Kwu Tan observation deck and enjoy the scenery!

Life is stressful for urban people. To have a break on the weekend in the park,
to have a breath of fresh air is very satisfying.
I came to Tuen Mun Park in Hong Kong for a walk and to take pictures.
The park is very large, and the greenness of the scenery is very comforting.
There are areas for people to sing and dance. I found it very interesting!
Many families go to the park to play and rest.
I hope that you will get a feel for the warm inviting atmosphere of leisure!

The lotus was selected as the Macau city’s flower. It has become the symbol of Macau.
In summer, you can see many beautiful lotus flowers blooming in the parks of Macau.
The lotus therefore has become one of the major subjects in summer, for photography lovers.
These are the lotus flowers I photographed this year. I hope you enjoy them!

Rafael's Roma Vacation Final Episode - St. Peter’s Basilica and Vatican Square
Final Episode
St. Peter’s Basilica and Vatican Square
St. Peter's Basilica is the largest Church all over the world. We came here and took some shots of the
Vatican on the first day of our Bus tour but we only got to see the Vatican Museums on the following
Wednesday. We came to St. Peter’s Basilica after visiting the museums, in my opinion, the interiors,
are the most beautiful I’ve ever seen! The building is enormous, and all the statues are huge -
some of them are near 10 meters tall! One of the most important statue of Michelangelo is exhibited
here on the right of the entrance, is the Santa Maria with Jesus called “The Pieta”, a work made by
Michelangelo when he was only 24 years old (1499). It is definitely a ‘must see’ if you ever visit Rome.
“The Pieta”,

This is by far the biggest museum I have ever been to! I couldn’t see everything inside.
I just visited the displays I really wanted to see and I was very keen to see Raphael (Rafael)
and Michelangelo’s works and of course the famous Sistine Chapel. I just couldn’t get to the final
section fast enough! It took some while to get to the Last Judgment and the Genesis but… I finally made it!
The room was dark and there were so many people standing there. This room is very special and
everyone there was supposed to be silent and you weren’t allowed to take pictures, but, people
were talking, sitting and using flashes when taking pictures, so I took some pictures too, although
without a flash. Then, there was an announcement telling people to keep quiet and to stop taking
pictures and by this time I was really tired but it was certainly one of the best things I did in Rome.
I was very satisfied with my trip there.

The Vatican Museums trace their origin to one marble sculpture, purchased 500 years ago.
The sculpture of Laocoön, the priest who, according to Greek mythology, tried to convince the people
of ancient Troy not to accept the Greeks' "gift" of a hollow horse, was discovered 14 January 1506,
in a vineyard near the basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. Pope Julius II sent Giuliano da Sangallo
and Michelangelo Buonarroti, who were working at the Vatican, to examine the discovery.
On their recommendation, the pope immediately purchased the sculpture from the vineyard owner.
The pope put the sculpture of Laocoön and his sons in the grips of a sea serpent on public
display at the Vatican exactly one month after its discovery.
The Museums celebrated their 500th anniversary in October 2006 by permanently
opening the excavations of a Vatican Hill necropolis to the public.

Upper Lascar Row
Under the Wing Lee Street and Ladder Street is a very characteristic street called Upper Lascar Row,
It was the biggest discorver when we went to Wing Lee Street. This street has a lots
of Chinese souvenirs and ceramics in the shops and the stalls. If you like to shooting some photos,
these colorful handicrafts can give you a very nice effect. Moreover haven' t many tourists here,
you can also see the routine life of the store owners and the old neighbors, is really worth to visit this street.
If I come here again, besides to taking pictures, must buy some interesting souvenirs!
Particularly want to say that the images qualities of Canon EOS 5D Mark II with
Canon EF 135mm f/2.0 L USM prime lens are superb, it is indeed a big surprise!
Regardless of colors, sharpness and bokeh, both are reached the highest level, I am really very satisfied!

Upper Lascar Row
Wing Lee Street
Many people were awared of the Wing Lee Street because of a award-winning movie "Echoes of the Rainbow".
Here is the film location, a full of 70's Hong Kong street characteristic. From the Sheung Wan Ferry Pier,
on the way of Hillier Street, walk about 15 minutes you can reach to the Wing Lee Street.
Walking on the stairs of Ladder Street to Wing Lee Street is a long rock steps,
it's a bit like the rock steps in some side streets of Macau, its make me feel very special.
Here is a Upper Lascar Row through the streets during our destination, a place to sell Chinese souvenirs,
this street is also quite distinctive, and well worth for visiting. Followed the steps to the Man Mo Temple,
and then climb the stairs will arrive to the Wing Lee Street.
This area gives me the feeling like going to the past of Hong Kong, like a large museum in the city.
So, these old buildings of Wing Lee Street and other small streets are really worth to preserve its,
because this is the best representative of the Hong Kong past culture and memories!

My dream lens Canon 135mm F2 L
On the 22nd of May I bought my second professional Canon L lens - the 135mm F2 L prime lens.
I am very satisfied with my first L lens, the Canon 24-70mm F2.8 L zoom lens. It provides a wide
angle for landscape shots and it takes very nice portrait shots as well.
However, I also wanted to have a telephoto lens that could take snap shots of people from a distance.
A zoom lens with a wide aperture is too heavy for me to carry so I have been looking
for lighter but good quality wide aperture prime lenses for nearly 6 months now.
After much research I found that the Canon 135L is one of the top 10 lenses in the world
and it is also one of the top three Canon lenses for taking sharp clear photos!
Therefore I bought one. I found it to be a very good lens for taking portrait shots.
I took many and I was very impressed with the quality of the photos.
The first day I used the 135L, I could feel its fast focus and I could see the sharpness
and clarity of the images. Some of the reviews about the lens commented on this point.
Most of the pictures I took were with the wide-open F2 aperture,
Most of the pictures I took were with the wide-open F2 aperture,
and it creates a fantastic smooth, creamy bokeh in the background.
The sharpness is nearly as good as my Canon 24-70L lens using the wide-open F2.8 aperture.
If you are using the F2.8 aperture the picture is sharper than most of the zoom lenses.
To give you an idea of what I am talking about, some of the pictures I have posted are
the original ones with the same pictures cropped. As you can see the pictures are very sharp
and clear and I don’t think therefore that I need a zoom lens under 200mm.

(Part II)
Part II
Pompeii is a ruined and partially buried Roman town-city near modern Naples in the Italian
region of Campania, in the territory of the commune of Pompeii. It was destroyed and completely
buried during a long catastrophic eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius spanning two days in 79 AD.
The eruption buried Pompeii under 22 meters of ash and pumice, and it was lost for nearly 1,600 years
before its accidental rediscovery in 1592. Since then, its excavation has provided an extraordinarily
detailed insight into the life of a city at the height of the Roman Empire.
There were many fascinating stories to listen to and things to see and if you have
the opportunity to see it, I recommend you do so!
