The lotus was selected as the Macau city’s flower. It has become the symbol of Macau.
In summer, you can see many beautiful lotus flowers blooming in the parks of Macau.
The lotus therefore has become one of the major subjects in summer, for photography lovers.
These are the lotus flowers I photographed this year. I hope you enjoy them!

Thanks uLi! I already seen the Lotus pictures of San,
ReplyDeletehe is an expert of Lotus photography,
I learned much from him!
They are so beautiful. I have never seen such water lilies in Britain.
ReplyDeleteWe do have water lilies here but most of them are 睡蓮...
And they are much smaller than the ones in your photos.
Thanks London Caller, 睡蓮 is very beautiful too,
ReplyDeletebut I didn't see any in Macau this year...
I know 睡蓮 have purple, pink and yellow colors!
I think the most different is the lotus leaves
are more beautiful and we can take pictures with
more composition with its!
really great macro shots.... these are really close up - don't usu get to see such details with the eye. did u use a macro lens? love the first photo with the bee on the flower!
ReplyDeleteThanks lechua, yes the pictures were extremely sharp,
ReplyDeletebut I didn't use macro lens, I only use the 135L
and crop some photos for see the details!
ReplyDeleteYou have an award winning lotus series here! :) Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mei Teng, may be I shall use this lotus
ReplyDeleteseries for a photography competition! ^.^
Gorgeous shots! How did you do the fuzzy edges on a few lotus, such as #3,#5 and #14...?
ReplyDeleteThanks micki, those were double exposures
ReplyDeleteI took one normal and one out focus pictures
and use photoshop to combine them together!
Thanks for the tip! I will give a try too! ;o)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, double exposures is a useful
ReplyDeletetechnic for flowers shooting! Hope you can do it!
The close-up macro shots are amazing! Love the details captured in your pictures. Well done Rafael! Picture 4 & 5 are my favorites!
ReplyDeleteBUt this type of lotus is edible, right?
ReplyDeleteI miss lotus soup.
In Malaysia, we also put peanuts in our lotus soup! Yum yum!!
A selection of macros sensational! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving these macro shots of the Lotus flowers - I could almost pluck them out from the computer screen!
ReplyDeleteThanks shloke,
ReplyDeleteI use the Canon 135mm F2L lens for take these pictures,
I think the details of the pictures were incredible,
I was very satisfy ot it!
The pictures 4 & 5 were double exposure,
I usually use this technic for shooting flowers!
To London Caller,
ReplyDeleteAre these lotus edible? I only know the seeds "蓮子"
can use for making soup and dryed fruits for CNY...
Thanks tossan, you're welcome! ^.^
ReplyDeleteTo JC,
Thanks The Nomadic Pinoy, it's my pleasure that
ReplyDeleteyou appreciate my pictures!
