During this Dubai trip, I visited some of the world's largest shopping malls,

many of them are quite distinctive, and of course taste many Middle Eastern food!

I had Lebanese, Indian and Iranian food in Dubai!

I like the Lebanese most, it's abosolutely delicous!

Dubai's shopping malls really make me enjoy shopping.

You can find clothes with many styles and sale at these huge shopping malls,

of course the latest collection of all brands around the world!

At the ground floor of Dubai Mall you can

access to the world's highest tower - Burj Khalifa,

Besides to enjoy dining and shopping in the mall, you can also touch the sky!

I went to Phuket after visiting the Shanghai Expo for my remaining holidays.

After the busy trip of Shanghai I was getting tired. I decided to relax more in this trip.

I didn't took many pictures during this trip. I was enjoying my shopping and eating in Phuket!

Shanghai Nights

The Shanghai nights were really impressive. The old western-style buildings in
the Bund and along Nanjing Road were architecturally very special for me!

When the lights were turned on, the buildings were gorgeous and spectacular and
they made Shanghai even more charming and attractive.

When you walked around the Bund you could compare the old buildings
with the new constructions. They were really colorful and impressive!

The ancient buildings in the Bund of Shanghai represents the past splendid,
reminds me of some old images of Shanghai.

Pudong on the other side of Shanghai represents the present prosperity,
as Shanghai's new area of brilliant night life.

This is the second time that I visited Shanghai, besides to visit the Shanghai Expo,

I also can see once again a beautiful night view of Shanghai,

I believe this is the most beautiful city night scenery!

This time I also witnessed the rapid development of Shanghai,

there are many skyscrapers were not seen before.

During the day in Shanghai, you recognize how prosperous is the city.

The early night was even more gorgeous when the lights turn on,

Shanghai night scenery is absolutely unforgettable!

Since this trip was Shanghai's summer, was particular cool to go out at night,

I specially took more night shots, I hope all of you will like the pictures.

Final Episode

St. Peter’s Basilica and Vatican Square

St. Peter's Basilica is the largest Church all over the world. We came here and took some shots of the
Vatican on the first day of our Bus tour but we only got to see the Vatican Museums on the following
Wednesday. We came to St. Peter’s Basilica after visiting the museums, in my opinion, the interiors,
are the most beautiful I’ve ever seen! The building is enormous, and all the statues are huge -
some of them are near 10 meters tall! One of the most important statue of Michelangelo is exhibited
here on the right of the entrance, is the Santa Maria with Jesus called “The Pieta”, a work made by
Michelangelo when he was only 24 years old (1499). It is definitely a ‘must see’ if you ever visit Rome.

“The Pieta”,

This is by far the biggest museum I have ever been to! I couldn’t see everything inside.
I just visited the displays I really wanted to see and I was very keen to see Raphael (Rafael)
and Michelangelo’s works and of course the famous Sistine Chapel. I just couldn’t get to the final
section fast enough! It took some while to get to the Last Judgment and the Genesis but… I finally made it!

The room was dark and there were so many people standing there. This room is very special and
everyone there was supposed to be silent and you weren’t allowed to take pictures, but, people
were talking, sitting and using flashes when taking pictures, so I took some pictures too, although
without a flash. Then, there was an announcement telling people to keep quiet and to stop taking
pictures and by this time I was really tired but it was certainly one of the best things I did in Rome.
I was very satisfied with my trip there.

The Vatican Museums

The Vatican Museums trace their origin to one marble sculpture, purchased 500 years ago.
The sculpture of Laocoön, the priest who, according to Greek mythology, tried to convince the people
of ancient Troy not to accept the Greeks' "gift" of a hollow horse, was discovered 14 January 1506,
in a vineyard near the basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. Pope Julius II sent Giuliano da Sangallo
and Michelangelo Buonarroti, who were working at the Vatican, to examine the discovery.
On their recommendation, the pope immediately purchased the sculpture from the vineyard owner.
The pope put the sculpture of Laocoön and his sons in the grips of a sea serpent on public
display at the Vatican exactly one month after its discovery.

The Museums celebrated their 500th anniversary in October 2006 by permanently
opening the excavations of a Vatican Hill necropolis to the public.

The Vatican Museums (Italian: Musei Vaticani), in Viale Vaticano in Rome, inside the Vatican City,
are among the greatest museums in the world, since they display works from the immense
collection built up by the Roman Catholic Church throughout the centuries.

Pope Julius II founded the museums in the 16th century. The Sistine Chapel and the Stanze
della Segnatura decorated by Raphael are on the visitor route through the Vatican Museums.

Part II

Pompeii is a ruined and partially buried Roman town-city near modern Naples in the Italian
region of Campania, in the territory of the commune of Pompeii. It was destroyed and completely
buried during a long catastrophic eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius spanning two days in 79 AD.
The eruption buried Pompeii under 22 meters of ash and pumice, and it was lost for nearly 1,600 years
before its accidental rediscovery in 1592. Since then, its excavation has provided an extraordinarily
detailed insight into the life of a city at the height of the Roman Empire.
There were many fascinating stories to listen to and things to see and if you have
the opportunity to see it, I recommend you do so!

Pompeii

I had read many stories about the history of the ancient city Pompeii.
I was so keen therefore and ecstatic in having the opportunity to visit it.
We were lucky to have a very funny guide and she showed us all the main sights of Pompeii.
We came at the right time because the rain had just stopped and the sun came out
and we were rewarded with blue skies and white clouds.

Napoli (Naples)

I went to two places outside of Rome, Napoli (Naples) and Pompeii. I went to a big shopping centre
(Galleria Umberto I) and it was a building with a huge glass dome. It was a very spectacular building.

Naples is one of the oldest cities in the world and it was the most bombed Italian city during World War II.
When we arrived here, there was a light rain. I can still feel this old city.
We started at the Castel Nuovo, and finished in Piazza del Plebiscito.

We had lunch near the ancient and famous city Pompeii. We had nice Italian spaghetti, meat and drinks.
One of the restaurateurs sang “Volare” and “O Sole Mio” which I thought were very impressive.

The next stop was Pompeii and the weather had definitely turned for the better. We had sunshine!

Art of Beijing

798 Art Zone – I read about this place in a magazine and then I did a bit of research about it,
gathering more information from the Internet. Originally the place was a radio equipment factory.
The construction is mostly done in an East Germany Bauhaus style.
Now, it’s become a concentration of Beijing’s artists. I find the layout of the place really attractive
and interesting. After arriving, I had a delicious lunch and then walked around,
scouring through a wide variety of art shops showcasing the different works each shop had on display.
After this I found a Kiwi café serving up good wholesome Kiwi food and I found the atmosphere in the café,
really comfortable and friendly. Apparently the owner had a café in NZ and he wanted to share that
ambience with the locals. I really didn’t expect 798 to be like this. The whole set up was really quite unique!

Beijing memories

On the 27th of December 2008 I had finally arrived at a very important travel destination,
unforgettable for me anyway – Beijing.
Perhaps the Chinese saying “You’re not a hero if you haven’t been to the Great Wall”,
made me feel guilty because I had been traveling all over Asia but I never quite made it to Beijing.
I’ve always wanted to come but I just hadn’t really made the effort to come. Until now…

In recent years and in some part, because of the Olympic games,
this ancient city has gone through some major transformations
and it’s become a very modern and attractive city!

In Beijing there are lots of attractions, both ancient and modern and
each of these places have left lasting impressions and they evoked strong feelings within me.
I hope to portray these feelings in my photos and share them with you all.
Because there are many attractions in Beijing, I can only show the places I wanted to visit
and these are my ‘photo-stories’ of those places.

The Temple of Heaven – This is the most beautiful piece of Chinese architecture that I’ve ever seen.
I have always wanted to take pictures here.
The Temple of Heaven is a symbolic representation of Chinese architecture.
All the pictures I took here show this symbolic building framed by the brilliant blue winter sky.
